39 WEEKS!! Welcome Grace Demeaux!!

Image

Monday May 27, 2013, Michael and I welcomed our sweet Grace Demeaux Ross! She was exactly one week early and we couldn’t have been more excited!

Image

Friday I received a phone call stating that my blood work came back with high levels of Uric Acid, and after going into triage and having a blood pressure of 150/98 and more blood work revealing toxemia and edema they decided to induce. 6:00pm Friday we began inducing and after exhausting every last bit of options at 5:06 on Monday morning we decided to have a c-section. Too many hours of labor to continue, but at 6:07 on Monday morning, Michael and I heard our sweet baby girls cry and experienced an all new level of love we never had experienced!

Michael and I have been so blessed by the wonderful miracle that is this sweet little one, the promise of Gods faithfulness in our lives and we cannot believe we are parents after all of the years of hearing that I would never be able to see this day! This sweet baby girl is such a beautiful blessing and I am so proud to take on the newest and most wonderful job I could have ever asked for, the role of mommy!

38 WEEKS! Only 2 more!

Weeks pregnant?: THIRTY – EIGHT! ALMOST THERE

What Demi Is Up Too:

Our little one isn’t so little anymore, weighing close to seven pounds and measuring 20 inches long. Fetal development is nearly complete as your baby tends to a few last-minute details like shedding the skin-protecting vernix and lanugo. She’s also producing more surfactant, a substance that prevents the air sacs in her lungs from sticking to one another once he starts to breathe. Most of the changes this week are small but important: She’s continuing to add fat (so she can take advantage of all those photo ops by sporting a round, cute baby look!) and fine-tuning her brain and nervous system (so she can deal with all the stimulation that awaits her once she makes her entrance into the world).

Maternity clothes?: does mostly sweat pants and Michaels tops count??

Stretch marks?: just a few

Sleep: non-existant

Best moment this week?: feeing more and more contractions, making me think she will definitely be here soon!

Miss Anything?: my being able to move around, we had to go on bed rest from the levels of swelling.

Movement?: I cant think of a time she doesnt move!

Food cravings: chicken wings and celery sticks this week!

Symptoms?: nausea, lots and lots of nausea and swelling, I wish I could figure out what is going on with the amount of water I am retaining!

Belly Button in or out?: about as out as its going to get

Wedding rings on or off?: all rings off!

Happy or Moody most of the time?:  A lot of moody lately from numerous triage visits and tons of contractions!

Looking forward to?: 40 WEEKS!!!!!!!

37 WEEKS!!!!!

Weeks pregnant?: THIRTY – SEVEN

What Demi Is Up Too:

YAY!!!!! We have got what is officially considered a full-term baby, even with three weeks to go. That doesn’t mean she’s finished growing — in fact, she’s still packing on about a half pound a week (at this age, the average fetus weighs about 6.5 pounds). That makes it a little crowded in your uterus, so Demi is probably not kicking as much, though she’s probably stretching, rolling a bit, and wiggling (all of which you’ll be able to feel!). Right now, my little munchkin is busy rehearsing for her big debut, inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid (to get the lungs ready for that first breath), sucking her thumb (to prepare for that first suckle of milk), blinking, and turning from side to side.

Maternity clothes?: that a funny question, I am going to go with what are jeans without stretchy tops!

Stretch marks?: the doctor said moisturizing is a myth, stretch marks are genetic which stinks because my skin is stretching and itching

Sleep: what is sleep? I heard of it before

Best moment this week?: knowing sweet Demi is a big girl who is healthy and fully developed so she is clear to go when she feels ready

Miss Anything?: my sanity! I am just so ready to be a mommy that the constant growth and pregnancy hormones are driving me nuts

Movement?: I can watch her little body move as I lay on my side which is awesome, Michael says it looks like a scene from Alien

Food cravings: salads and hot sauce!

Symptoms?: feeling like I am back in the first trimester with the nausea and fatigue but tack on some lower back pain and contractions and you have a fun afternoon right there! ;) she is worth every last bit!

Belly Button in or out?: more out than in

Wedding rings on or off?: Off, fake ring on!

Happy or Moody most of the time?:  A ton of happy moments but the occasional breakdown at times

Looking forward to?: going ahead and having our sweet baby girl!

36 WEEKS!!

Weeks pregnant?: THIRTY – SIX

What Demi Is Up Too:

Demi is now about six pounds and 20 inches long, with soft bones and cartilage to allow a safer journey through the exit door. Most of her systems (from circulatory to musculoskeletal) are ready for prime time, though her digestion system — which has done only practice runs so far — will kick into gear as she takes her first suckle at the breast or bottle.

Maternity clothes?: that a funny question, I am going to go with what are jeans without stretchy tops!

Stretch marks?: I am not sure if it is stretch marks or a rash but good gravy all my tummy does is itch and lovely red marks are beginning to appear, I am hoping its a rash!

Sleep: yeah, that maybe happens for about an 3 hours or so, hello preparation for baby girl!

Best moment this week?: knowing I am closer and closer to meeting my sweet Demi!

Miss Anything?: we are back to a clothes and shoes missing phase!

Movement?: she loves to stretch out like crazy! I think she is working her way on down!

Food cravings: spicy, spicy, spicy!!!!

Symptoms?: feeling like I am back in the first trimester with the nausea and fatigue but tack on some lower back pain and contractions and you have a fun afternoon right there! ;) she is worth every last bit!

Belly Button in or out?: more out than in

Wedding rings on or off?: OFF

Happy or Moody most of the time?:  A ton of happy moments but the occasional breakdown at times

Looking forward to?: getting the last bits of the nursery ready to meet miss Demi!

35 WEEKS!

Weeks pregnant?: THIRTY- FIVE

What Demi Is Up Too:

Demi is standing tall (so to speak) this week at about 20 inches and continues her steady weight gain. While she won’t get much longer, she will continue to pack on the pounds — including large amounts of baby fat — right up ’til delivery day. Something else that’s moving at a mind-boggling pace these day: fetal brain development! There’s a lot going on inside that tiny head, which is, by the way, still soft to allow an easier exit through the birth canal. that first postpartum manicure.

Maternity clothes?: I think we should rename this sweats/Michaels clothing

Stretch marks?: Unfortunately we definitely are starting to get a couple, no matter how much I moisturize

Sleep: haha

Best moment this week?: finding out the cord is becoming lose around her neck

Miss Anything?: my ability to do things without feeling so tired

Movement?: she is definitely a mover and shaker!

Food cravings: spicy, spicy, spicy

Symptoms?: nausea and more nausea 😦

Belly Button in or out?: more out than in

Wedding rings on or off?: Off, fake ring on!

Happy or Moody most of the time?:  emotional lately with just worry about her little cord problem

Looking forward to?: going into labor

34 WEEKS! and ready to POP

photo 1-5

Weeks pregnant?: THIRTY- FOUR WEEKS! Technically 6 WEEKS TO GO, but we are hoping sooner! 🙂

What Demi Is Up Too:

Demi is clocking in at five pounds and could be as tall as 20 inches by now, and the vernix (the white coating protecting your baby’s skin) is getting thicker. Her fat layers — which will help regulate her body temperature once she’s born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well.  In other baby-related developments, those tiny fingernails have probably reached the tips of her fingers by now — and getting ready for that first postpartum manicure.

Maternity clothes?: I think we should rename this sweats/Michaels clothing

Stretch marks?: Michael saw a couple of super tiny ones that I could not see, but he said it actually took light hitting my body a certain way, so hopefully the bottle of lotion I put on last night helped!

😉 she is worth every last bit!

Belly Button in or out?: more out than in

Wedding rings on or off?: Off, fake ring on!

Happy or Moody most of the time?:  A ton of happy moments but the occasional breakdown at times

Looking forward to?: going ahead and having our sweet baby girl!

We are definitely asking for prayers over the next few weeks for our sweet baby girl. Last week they thought they heard an arrhythmia and sent us to see a specialist, when we went in the next day to see him, he found out the problem our doctor was hearing wasn’t because of an arrhythmia but rather the cord is around her neck and I am pretty sure she thinks its fun to play with, with the way her little hands are right by it! The doctor is checking us every week until we deliver and he feels good about her being fine, but of course for first time mommy and daddy and then first time Muddy and Granddaddy the nerves and craziness is a little high. We are doing kick tests and have had to go to triage once because she failed but she seems ok, so we are just trusting that God has his perfect plan for the remainder of our pregnancy!

33 WEEKS!

ImageWeeks pregnant?: THIRTY-THREE WEEKS! 7 LEFT!!

What Demi Is Up Too:

Your baby is still gaining weight (about half a pound a week), and she could grow up to another full inch this week. With that much baby inside your uterus, your amniotic-fluid level has maxed out, which explains why some of her pokes and kicks feel pretty sharp these days. (There’s less fluid to cushion the blows.) Antibodies are being passed from you to your little one as she continues to develop her own fetal immune system, which will come in handy once she’s outside the womb and fending off all sorts of germs.

Maternity clothes?: All day everyday!

Stretch marks?: Negative! :)

Sleep: lots of sleep deprivation to ensure that I am fully prepared for sweet Demi

Best moment this week?: we have a nursery, joined a church and planned Demi and Michaels first out of country adventure together!!! Its been a wonderful week!

Miss Anything?: my not having a sharp shooting pain in my stomach every couple minutes!!!

Movement?: I can feel TONS of rapid crazy bursts at once sometimes! She loves to move around all day and all night

Food cravings: salads and wraps

Symptoms?: feeling like I am back in the first trimester with the nausea and fatigue all over again

Belly Button in or out?: more out than in

Wedding rings on or off?: Off, fake ring on!

Happy or Moody most of the time?:  A ton of happy moments!!! WE ARE SO EXCITED!!!!

Looking forward to?: Measuring sweet Demi this week and finding out how we are doing!!!

32 Weeks!

“For you formed my inward parts;

you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.

 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works;

my soul knows it very well.” Psalm 139:13,14

Weeks pregnant?: THIRTY-TWO WEEKS! Only 8 more to go

(Yes we have gotten behind and there is no picture this week! Sorry mommy, daddy and granddaddy, but it has been a stressful few weeks getting ready for little miss too impatient to waits arrival!)

What Demi Is Up Too:

She’s starting to get ready for her big debut, tipping the scales at almost four pounds and topping out at just about 19 inches. In these past few weeks, it’s all about practice, practice, practice as she hones the skills she’ll need to thrive outside the womb — from swallowing and breathing to kicking and sucking. And speaking of sucking, your little one has been able to suck her thumb for a while now. Something else to note: As more and more fat accumulates under your baby’s skin, she’s becoming less transparent and more opaque.

Maternity clothes?: Either that or Michaels clothes, whichever! I told him I cannot wait until his clothes are big and baggy on me again

Stretch marks?: Negative! :)

Sleep: lots & lots of tossing and turning and never being comfortable

Best moment this week?: we painted Demi’s room and bit and pieces of her room are starting to be delivered! It is crazy awesome

Miss Anything?: my confidence, the more I grow the more insecure I seem to be becoming (and I am pretty sure that WHEN I get back down to pre-pregnancy weight) I will never be as critical as I used to be on myself. Going from 122lbs to what I am at now is really taking a toll on my insecurities but I am still so beyond grateful for Gods wonderful blessing, I just feel guilty having to remind myself of that all the time!

Movement?: I can now watch her little foot move across the top of my stomach, it Is the coolest this ever!

Food cravings: fruit snack

Symptoms?: good third trimester symptoms and you pretty much have what I feel! lol the nausea has even decided to make another appearance!

Belly Button in or out?: more out than in

Wedding rings on or off?: Off, fake ring on! People made fun of me for wanting to get another ring, but in the day of glorified unwed pregnancies I take pride in my wonderful husband and the ring I wear

Happy or Moody most of the time?:  A lot of crying and happiness and then joyful crying and then you know all sorts of mood swings

Looking forward to?: MEETING MY BABY GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

30 Weeks

Weeks pregnant?: THIRTY WEEKS!!! WOOT WOOT

What Demi Is Up Too:

Demi is getting bigger every day, weighing in at over three pounds now (she’ll be packing on the weight at a rate of half a pound per week for the next seven weeks). Also growing daily is her brain, which is actually starting to look like the real thing with those characteristic grooves and wrinkles. And now that your little genius can regulate her own body temperature and turn up the heat, he’ll start shedding lanugo, the downy body hair that’s been keeping her warm up until now.

Maternity clothes?: I dont think this answer will change until this sweet girl arrives!

Stretch marks?: Negative! 🙂

Sleep: being fully prepared for the long nights of baby crying, because she is keeping mommy awake like crazy right now!!

Best moment this week?: finally beginning to set up my sweet girls room

Miss Anything?: being able to work out without feeling like my stomach is on fire

Movement?: she moves all day every day all night every night!!!!

Food cravings: grilled chicken salads

Symptoms?: swelling, swelling and more swelling and then of course the braxton hicks contractions! good gracious get me to the due date!!!

Belly Button in or out?: half and half!

Wedding rings on or off?: Off, saddest day ever!! I am just too swollen!

Happy or Moody most of the time?:  A lot of everything, I get super stoked thinking about my baby girl, and then I cry because I get so excited about my baby girl!!!

Looking forward to?: being home with my AGCC family and having the next baby shower!!! 🙂

START OF THE FINAL TRIMESTER!

Image

Weeks pregnant?: TWENTY-EIGHT!!!!

Maternity clothes?: I dont think this answer will change until this sweet girl arrives!

Stretch marks?: Nope, staying hydrated and moisturized! 🙂

Sleep: we are a high maintenance little munchkin! every hour on the hour she kicks to make me switch up positions, starting to only get about 4 hours of good sleep a night

Best moment this week?: finding out that we are probably closer than we think to meeting our sweet little one!

Miss Anything?: well, as bad as this may sound, I REALLY MISS the scale having a lower number on it! haha I know it sounds dumb but gracious it is weird to feel so big

Movement?: she is definitely the daughter of two very active people! she loves to move around while she still can

Food cravings: STEAK!!!

Symptoms?: this week has definitely been full of craziness with just checking for pre-term labor and finding out how big she has gotten, so symptoms were definitely in full force, we are starting to have Braxton Hicks Contractions, lower back pains and tons of swelling!

Belly Button in or out?: half and half!

Wedding rings on or off?: Off, saddest day ever!! I am just too swollen 😦 Michael went out and got me a new ring though because he is such a sweetie!

Happy or Moody most of the time?:  A very calm and maintaining happiness week! I am not allowed to get stressed out or get anxious so we are forcing calmness and happiness even through crazy days for sweet Demi!

Looking forward to?: baby shower number one this coming weekend! I am so excited to be home and see people and just celebrate such a wonderful time!!

What Demi Is Up Too:

Brain wave activity measured in a developing fetus shows different sleep cycles, including the rapid eye movement phase, the stage when dreaming occurs.

By now, Demi who weighs in at about 3 pounds and stands — or rather lies — at almost 16 inches (measured head to toe) has added blinking to her growing bag of tricks. Other impressive new talents being added to Miss Demi’s roster in the womb include coughing, more intense sucking, and, perhaps most important, better breathing. Of course, it’s still best if a baby doesn’t check out of that hotel just yet — there’s still a lot of growing and maturing to do over the next 12 weeks.
